Route instructions

[1] Walk along the stone wall around Hallgarth Manor Hotel which leads you past magnificent houses and brings you to St Laurence Church at the end of the road ('Hallgarth') on your left.

[2] On your left, along the church wall, you will see a public footpath sign. Follow this sign as it leads you downhill and through fields on both sides. After a while and a gate, the path leads you along the edge of the field which goes off to the left towards Littletown Farm.

[3] On your right you will see a gate to enter Littletown Farm, go through the gate and turn left on the graveled road. Follow this road until you reach the main road.

[4] Cross the road and turn right to walk along the road for 20 metres until you can see the next public footpath on your left. This path leads you through some trees. Follow this path for a distance and ignore the other footpath that goes off to your right.

[5] You will see that the path turns sharp to the right. Before that, there is an obvious path on your left that leads downhill along some trees. Turn left here and follow the path as it leads you towards a beck.

[6] Cross the beck over the bridge and keep on straight ahead uphill to walk through pine trees. Keep on walking straight uphill, ignoring the other footpath on your left that leads through the woods. The path will lead you up to the road after a distance.

[7] Go through the gate, cross the road and turn left to follow the road for a short distance. On your right, you will see a path leading uphill and a gate. Follow this path, go through the gate and follow the path as it goes around and offers you stunning views over the countryside.

Watch out for traffic.

[8] Follow the path further as it brings you back into woodland and downhill again.

[9] On your left, you will see a gate, go through it and follow the path around as it goes around to the left. After a while, the path leads you to the houses of Low Pittington.

[10] On your left, you will see a public footpath sign. Go through the gate and follow the path as it leads you along fields. Stay on the left side of the hedge. Exit the fields through a gate and you are back on the street.

[11] Turn right and left at the main road. Follow the road for a while.

[12] At Hallgarth Lane, turn right to walk along the street, past a school on your right, that takes you back to the starting point.
