[1] Walk down the main road in High Shincliffe to walk towards the A177. Bear right to walk into a cul-de-sac. Cross the road at the end and turn slightly left to get into Strawberry Lane which is signposted as a public bridleway.
Take care when crossing the main road.
[2] Walk along the tarmac road and follow it when it turns right and leads to a farm. Walk up to the farm houses.
[3] In front of you is a barn with a small public footpath sign on it. Turn right in front of the barn and walk on grass with the farm house on your right. Walk to the back of the garden bearing left. You will reach a stile in the corner of the garden. Go over it and follow the way towards the woods.
Take care as the paths in the woods might be muddy at times.
[4] In front of the woods, turn right to follow the path. It will lead you into the woods, where you will see a stile. Go around the stile and turn right to follow the path through the woods.
[5] Walk downhill in the woods and bear right to reach steep steps at the bottom of the woods (close to a field). Go down to the steps and turn left to follow the path with the field on your right.
[6] At the end of the path, go down a few steep steps and you will reach Hall Lane leading up to Shincliffe Hall. Turn right on the tarmac road to walk out of the woods and into Shincliffe.
[7] On your way, you will pass Poplar Tree Garden Centre on your left. Walk until you reach the road and turn right to walk up the hill on the right side. You will pass beautiful houses on both sides.
[8] At the end of the street, you will reach the main road and the Seven Star Pub on your left. Cross the road at the traffic island left to the Seven Star Pub and turn right to walk uphill.
Take care when crossing the main road.
[9] You will reach a side street (Bank Foot) on your left leading up to the old school of Shincliffe. Turn left to follow the side street. It will lead you up to a big yellow house.
[10] There is a public footpath sign on the left of the house. Follow it uphill and walk until the end.
[11] At the end, you will reach a gravelled footpath. Turn right to walk up to the street. Walk straight ahead on the pavement (you will cross a small side streets) until you reach a brick wall on your right.
[12] At the end of the brick wall, turn right to return to the starting point.
High Shincliffe offers a good selection of sporting activities to the inhabitants. In the community centre, you can take part in Pilates, Bowls, Dancing, Football and (every two weeks) Rambling.
