Getting there

Parking is available at the starting point. The route is also accessible via public transport. From Durham, take Arriva bus. no 24. From Peterlee, take Arriva bus no. 23. From Hartlepool, take Go North East bus no. X35, or Arriva bus no. 23, 24A or 24B.

Route instructions

[1] Start walking towards the sea.

[2] At the T junction, turn left and follow the road until the end.

[3] At the end of the road, turn sharp right onto a grassy footpath between two bollards and follow the coastal path for a distance.

Take care when walking close to the cliffs.

[4] When you reach a tarmac road, turn right to follow it up the hill.

[5] At the end of the road, turn right around the corner and at the junction turn left to get back to the starting point.

Blackhall Community Centre was opened in 1988. Since then it provides a lot of activities for the people living in and around the village. They offer a great fitness suite, bowls, and dancing. Just to name a few. Furthermore, on 17th June 2012, the Olympic torch came through Blackhall Colliery and was carried by four different torchbearers.
