[4] Walk across the Zebra crossing and down the steps towards the road.

There are four steps so this part will be unsuitable for wheelchairs. Pushchairs will be able to get down the steps with assistance.

[5] Turn right onto South Church Road and walk along the footpath keeping ASDA on your right hand side.  Keep walking down the footpath, crossing a side road and going underneath the railway bridge. You will pass the Grand Hotel on your right hand side.

[6] Cross the road at the garage. The road now bears left.

[7] You will pass Hanover Gardens on your right hand side.  Cross over the road at the lay by.

Take care when crossing this busy road.

[8] Turn left at the roundabout and take the A688 towards Coundon, staying on the footpath.

[9] Continue on the footpath up the incline and cross the road at the next roundabout at the brown Auckland Way sign. Turn left and cut through the gap in the fence on your right and then turn left through the small car park.

[10] Stay on the footpath towards the new housing estate, cross over Flambard Drive and enter the footpath between the hedges.

[11] Stay on the footpath passing Brack’s Farm on your left and fields on your right.

[12] Walk through the wooden posts at the footpath sign and turn left onto Durham Road.

[13] Cross a side road and continue up the footpath alongside Durham Road, branching right not left, when the road splits. Bear left with the road passing Kingsway car park on the left. Continue along Kingsway crossing over the road at the lights at Belvedere Workingmen’s Club.

[14] Turn right at the lights then cross South Church Road onto Newgate Street.

[15] Turn left and walk up Newgate Street to the Four Clocks Centre.
